キュンメリ（石塚）
Kummeli (Sea cairn)

 

 

Kökarという島にて、山道で迷っている最中、ふと誰かが作った簡易的な石積みを見つけ、安心感を抱いた。人が関わったものは自然の中ではよく目立ち、周囲と対比するように人工物は温かさを放っていた。こうした経験から、自然における「目印としての人工物」を制作した。
数多くの小島が隣接するフィンランドの海岸線には、しばしば航海標識（キュンメリ）が見られる。キュンメリは白く塗られた石積みや、赤黄の平面を据えた構造体などが一般的で、その目印を二つ直線で重ねた線上の航路を示す。

 

 

While lost on a mountain path on the island of Kökar, I suddenly came across a makeshift stone cairn, which brought me a sense of relief. Human-made objects stand out well in nature, and amidst the surroundings, artificial structures exuded warmth. Inspired by this experience, I created "artificial objects as landmarks" in nature.
Along the coastline of Finland, with its numerous adjacent islands, one often encounters maritime landmarks called "Kummeli" (cairns). Kummelis typically consist of white-painted stone cairns or structures with red and yellow panels, indicating the route along a line formed by overlapping two straight marks.
